Samuel Quo Vadis

Sam is the past president and founder of The Screenplayers, a group of writers whose alumni include Michael Starrbury (“The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete”), Betsy Morris (“Guiding Family”), Jamie Nash ("Altered," Save the Cat! Writes for TV), Pete Barnstom ("For Sale By Superhero"), Blake Snyder (“Blank Check”), Lynn Grant Beck (“12 Gifts of Christmas”), Lisa Ford ("The Teacher"), Hank Isaac ("The Stars Don't Twinkle In Outer Space"), Nicholl Fellowship winner James Foley (Powder River Breakdown), and Jenna Glatzer (Celine Dion: For Keeps), among others.

His 22 minute comedic short, Babysitters, was shot in Chicago…with large portions of the sound missing. Sam and 7 other Screenplayers penned an 8 part police procedural mini-series for German TV (unproduced). He also created the pilot script, series bible, and business proposal for CHIC, a TV series set in the fashion world and combining drama, crime and mystery, for Treschic Film Productions (unproduced). Sam has been interviewed for Absolute Write and ScreenTalk Magazine.

Past accolades include being a winner in the Texas Film Institute (“Handle With Care” and “Babysitters”) and Telluride Indiefest (“SpellBound”) screenwriting competitions, a CineStory finalist (“Babysitters”), a top three American Zoetrope screenwriter (“Red Mercury” and “Babysitters”), a semi-finalist in the Don & Gee Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting (“Red Mercury”), Moondance (“Handle With Care”), American Accolades (“Red Mercury”), Words From Here ("Handle With Care"), and top 10%  in the Austin Film Festival ("Handle With Care" and "SpellBound") competitions.

A Canadian citizen born in Vancouver, he's been described as "calm and practical, though whimsical" (an entirely accurate if seemingly contradictory description). And "yes," Quo Vadis is his real last name. His multicultural heritage is whimsical Greek/Italian on his father's side and practical Dutch/Prussian on his mother's side. His ancestors left Prussia before Germany become a country and settled in the Russian Empire prior to it becoming the Soviet Union...with many eventually escaping to Canada.

His other endeavours include working as a Creative Conceptual Portrait Photographer. He was a finalist in the Hamdan International Photography Awards and was one of only two Canadian photographers to be published in the HIPA Annual Four Volume Book (in the B&W Category). He has been featured in the Toronto International Salon of Photography. His work has appeared on the cover of Merciless Beauty Magazine and in Fashion Faces and Ladies of Steampunk Magazines. He also shot an ad campaign for Amaterasu Beauty.
